Of course, it’s important to understand what an autoflower strain of marijuana means before we go any further. In nature, marijuana is photosensitive. That means that the sun (or lack of sun) signals when it should go from the vegetative phase to the flowering phase. When there are enough hours of uninterrupted darkness at every night for a certain number of nights in a row, the plants will begin to transition into the flowering phase.
Autoflowering strains of marijuana, however, are not photosensitive. They transition to the flowering phase when the time has come, and this time is not based on light at all. This makes it possible for many growers to have two marijuana harvests within one growing season since the first harvest can take place when there is tons of sun (and photosensitive plants won’t have gone into their flowering phase yet). Amnesia Haze Autoflowering strain is an excellent strain of marijuana for experienced growers.
This video is tailored towards non-autoflowering Amnesia Haze so some attributes may slightly differ.
Amnesia Haze Autoflower Origins
There are a variety of cannabis strains that have gone into the making of Amnesia Haze Auto. It is a hybrid, although it is Sativa dominant. Its Indica roots are from Afghani and South Asian origin, while its Sativa roots come from Thai, Hawaiian, Jamaican, Cambodian, and Haze origin.
Essentially the South Asian and Jamaican landrace were crossbred with Thai, Hawaiian, Jamaican, and Cambodian Sativas. This created the unique combination that is the Amnesia Haze Autoflower, making it an excellent product to consume in a variety of ways.
About Amnesia Haze Autoflowers
Once upon a time we only knew cannabis indica and cannabis sativa plants. These are seasonal plants that start growing in Spring and are ready to be harvested when days turn shorter – so towards Fall.
Indoor growers learned to imitate nature by manipulating this light cycle.
In the early ’80s a third species, Ruderalis, was brought to Amsterdam. This plant is a cannabis relative that was discovered in Siberia. Breeders found that this Ruderalis plant would flower after just a few weeks, regardless of light differences. These ruderalis genes were combined with existing indica and sativa strains and the autoflowering marijuana seeds were born.
Nowadays you can find autoflowering variants of all sorts of popular strains. They grow smaller plants but they’re easier to grow and you can harvest much sooner than with photosensitive plants. Great for new growers, growing in a small space or if you want multiple harvests per season!
